INTRODUCTION OF FRUITS

FRUITS

In botany a fruit is a part of a flowering plant that derives from specific tissues of the flower, one or more ovaries, and in some cases accessory tissues. Fruits are the means by which these plants disseminate seeds.

Many of them that bear edible fruits, in particular, have propagated with the movements of humans and animals in a symbiotic relationship as a means for seed dispersal and nutrition, respectively; in fact, humans and many animals have become dependent on fruits as a source of food.

Fruits account for a substantial fraction of the world's agricultural output, and some such as the apple and the pomegranate have acquired extensive cultural and symbolic meanings.

In common language usage, "fruit" normally means the fleshy seed-associated structures of a plant that are sweet or sour and edible in the raw state, such as apples, oranges, grapes. According to botanists (those who study plants) a fruit is the part of the plant that develops from a flower. It's also the section of the plant that contains the seeds. The other parts of plants are considered vegetables. These include the stems, leaves and roots — and even the flower bud.

  1. Esther, you are dealing with an important issue in your blog, it is interesting especially for Ghanaians, however you make statements that are not backed by any facts or properly recognised studies like the question why Ghanaians dont eat fruits. Are you very sure? Ghanaians eat a lot of fruits ask the banana and groundnut sellers, the orange and pineapple hawkers etc. As a journalists your blog could be informative if you did the basic research. You also put certain statements in your blogs without telling the reader of your sources. If I am being too critical it is because you did not meet the requirements of the assignments. No video or audio podcast. And the pictures are not captioned or acknowledged. Try to maintain your blog and do the right thing.
